Today I realised that whenever I do good and nobody seems to praise me for it, is because Allah has chosen to conceal it for me. And I should be thankful for it. Alhamdullilah.

Narrated by Abu Musa Al-Ashari: Allah's Messenger said, "Many amongst men attained perfection but amongst women none attained the perfection except Maryam, the daughter of Imran; and Asiya, the wife of Fir'aun. And the superiority of Aishah to other women is like the superiority of Tharid (Arabic dish) to other meals."
Hadith Sahih Al-Bukhari 3769

Most of the time multitasking is an illusion. You think you are multitasking, but in reality you're actually wasting time switching from one task to another.

Don't allow your trials to tear you down and make you bitter. With patience and faith, you're supposed to pull through and be a better person.

Beware of complacency. Never think you're better off spiritually than the one who is struggling to keep the faith. May He keep us steadfast.

Life is not all about happiness. Embrace the sad and the pain as well. But never forget the Almighty at all times. Speak to Him about every fear, every dream, every hope you have. He listens.

Work hard to rid jealousy from your heart. It's ugly. It'll have you hating on those you don't even know. You'll end up a bitter person.

The type of person you marry plays a big role in the type of children you'll have. So do your unborn child a favour by choosing wisely.

When you've finally found the true meaning of this life and your heart's in the right place, you'll be happy keeping a low profile. Blessed.

Effort, that's the key word. It's a drive that one should possess. We have to strive to excel, even though you know that you are bound to fail. But that doesn't mean that you should give up hope. Hope and effort, the two that should go together.

I am glad that I'm the hope behind the effort.

The 51st Tip:
When You Lend One Another Money, Write It Down

We find it strange that the longest verse in the Noble Quran is the verse talking about the issue of debt. Why isn't it a verse about prayer or fasting or judgement? When trade became widespread and people's interactions were strengthened, many problems set in as a result.

The verse of Debt in Surah Al-Baqarah contains some counsel and rulings which if we were to apply them as required, we would become safe from what goes on today in people's interactions with one another; interactions that are not proper, that can uproot the fabric of the society and cause trial and evil traits therein.

"O you who believe! When you contract a debt for a fixed period, write it down. Let a scribe write in down in justice between you. Let not the scribe refuse to write as Allah has taught him, so let him write. Let him (the debtor) who incurs the liability dictate, and he must fear Allah, his Lord, and diminish not anything of what he owes. But if the debtor is of poor understanding, or weak, or is unable himself to dictate, then let his guardian dictate in justice. And get two witnesses out of your own men. And if there are no two men (available), then a man and two woman, such as you agree for witnesses." (Al-Baqarah: 282)

The verse makes it imperative that transactions involving debt must be put into writing - no matter how little. There is wisdom in that. Due to its small nature at times, some people refrain from putting it into writing but when there is the need to return the rights back to their owner, the creditor will not see the debt as being small or not. What he wants is that he should have his right back even if it were a dime.

The verse stipulates that all parties to a debt transaction must comply with its rulings; they are the writer, the witnesses and the parties to the transactions (that is, the creditor and the debtor). The verse specifically goes tough on the witnesses that they should not fail to render the testimony as demanded by the religion. That is the problem these days when one wants to cash a cheque, a conveyance or a promissory note. The verse also charges those in the official position to safeguard the writers of the debt and the witnesses. The verse thus charges all on fear of Allah.

Writing down the debt and spreading this practice in society is an evidence of piety and obedience of Allah. People in their interactions with other people, will love to interact with anyone who will not deny them of their rights. As for the person who devours people's wealth unjustly; who trades in falsehood and make frivolous claims on the people, they will avoid him. This is what is called in some customs, a portion that devours the rights of the Prophets.

I'm always fascinated with men who reads. It's like they are scarce. Rare breed indeed! So happened when I board the train and this fair guy was reading a book called Hadith. Mashallah, I went crazy! He looks young, in his spectacles. I boarded the train and smile. He smiled back. Mashallah, I pray that he will gain knowledge and spread knowledge and apply that knowledge too. Mashallah, it is so beautiful. Seeing this, I hope my Ummah will never stop gaining knowledge. Amin.

As long as you are performing your prayers you are knocking on the doors of Allah. And whoever is knocking at the door of Allah, Allah will open it for him.
Ibn Qayyim

Saturday, August 18, 2018

The great warrior and companion Hamza Ibn Abu Muttalib (ra) was an uncle of the Prophet Muhammad (saw). His conversion to Islam was a sudden incident. After being bestowed with Prophethood, the Prophet Muhammad (saw) started preaching Islam publicly. For this reason the infidels started opposition and oppression.

In the meantime one day the Prophet Muhammad (saw) was in meditation at the foot of Safa mountain. The wicked Abu Jahl rebuked him in an extremely, objectionable language and struck him. Uttering not a word the Prophet Muhammad (saw) returned home. Hamza (ra) had just returned from hunting. He came to know about this incident. He rushed angrily in that condition to the compound of Kaba. Seeing Abu Jahl sitting among other leaders of Quraish he roared like a lion. Striking Abu Jahl’s head with his bow again and again, he said, what you dare rebuke my nephew and strike him. Hamza declared so listen I recite la illaha illallahu Muhammad Rasulallah and I accept islam, the religion of Muhammad (saw). Hamza went to the Prophet Muhammad (saw) and narrated the whole incident. He also informed him about his conversion to Islam. The Prophet Muhammad (saw) was very pleased by acceptance of Islam by a warrior like Hamza.

Hazrat hamza (ra) was a mighty brave warrior. He was honored by the title of the lion of Allah his Prophet’s for his incomparable bravery. After accepting Islam Hamza (ra) dedicated himself to the cause of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) and Islam. He remained like a shadow with the Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) during different crises. When the Prophet Muhammad (saw) was engaged in preaching Islam security of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) and the Muslims rested with Hamza (ra). Hazrat Hamza (ra) earned name and fame for his excellent bravery in the battle of Badr. In that battle the Muslims killed many Quraish leaders including Abu Jahl.

In the battle of Uhud, Hamza (ra) was one of the targets of the infidels for killing, because many Quraish heroes were killed by Hamza (ra) in the battle of Badr. As a result at one stage of the battle, Abyssinian slave wahshi Ibn Harb with a spear attacked him. He fell down on the ground and was martyred. May Allah (swt) be pleased with him.

Ruqayyah bint Muhammad (ra) was born three years after the birth of Zainab (Radiallah-hu-Anha). Initially, Ruqayyah was married to Utbah ibn Abu Lahab, the son of Arch enemy of Muhammad (saw). When Islam was declared, Abu Lahab called his sons, Utbah and Utybah to divorce their wives, Ruqayyah and Umm Kulthum respectively.

Later on in life, Allah gave Hadhrat Ruqayyah better partner in form of Uthman ibn Affan (ra). When the cruelty of Quraysh increased, Prophet Muhammad (saw) permitted some of his companions to migrate to Abyssinia. Among them were Ruqayyah (ra) and her husband Uthman (ra). While they were living in Abyssinia, they were blessed with a son, whom they named, Abdullah. Unfortunately, he died at the tender age of six.

Later on, they came back to Mecca and eventually migrated to Medina. Owing to her travels she is often called as “the lady with two Migrations.” During the battle of Badr she fell sick and therefore Uthman (ra) had to stay back with his ailing wife on the advice of Prophet Muhammad (saw).

Narrated by Ibn Umar (ra): Uthman did not join the Badr battle because he was married to one of the daughters of Allah’s Apostle (saw) and she was ill. So, the Prophet (saw) said to him, “You will get a reward and a share (from the war booty) similar to the reward and the share of one who has taken part in the Badr battle.”
Hadith Sahih Bukhari Volume 4, Book 53, Number 359

Hadhrat Ruqayyah passed away on the same day that the battle of Badr was won, i.e. two years after her migration in 2AH. Since Prophet Muhammad (saw) was still at the battle ground he could not attend the funeral of his daughter. Hadhrat Ruqayyah (ra) was buried in the al-Baqi Cemetery in Medina. She was the first of Prophet’s beloved daughters to depart from this world.

It’s amazing how tolerance we are in this society. I hope that it will continue to be this way. No discrimination, spread love and better understand all together among different religions and beliefs. This is what I called, racial harmony. Amin.

I always wanted a partner who would never fail to miss his prayers. For him to be someone who tries to be a better person, who gives his best everyday. Like wise, I am too struggling to be better than who I am yesterday. And I hope we can work together to be better, to also remind each other that this life is only temporary. There are days, I sat there watching you pray. I hope to pray next to you. Soon. Inshallah amin. Amin, amin.

The Prophet was a loving husband. Aisha talked about the times when she enjoyed meals with him. He enjoyed his meals only when she sat next to him. They drank from one cup and he watched where she placed her lips so that he could place his lips on the same area. He ate from a bone after she ate and placed his mouth where she had eaten. She also said that he placed morsels of food into her mouth and she would do the same.
‘Aisha and the Prophet would use code language with each other denoting their love. She asked the Prophet how he would describe his love for her. The Prophet Muhammad answered, saying: “Like a strong binding knot.” The more you tug, the stronger it gets, in other words.
Every so often ‘Aisha would playfully ask, “How is the knot?” The Prophet would answer, “As strong as the first day (you asked).”
When she was asked: “What did the Prophet use to do in his house?” She replied, “He used to keep himself busy serving his family.” When one of his companions asked him “who is the most beloved to your heart?” he answered instantly “Aisha”.
Before his death, Prophet Muhammad’s very last words to his companions were: “Treat women with kindness, treat women with kindness! Have fear of God in relation to them and make sure you want well for them”.
These were his last public words concerning women which responded to the meaning of the following revealed verse regarding the life of a couple:
“And of His signs is that he created for you, of yourselves, spouses, that you might repose in them, and He has set between you love and mercy. Surely in that are signs for people who consider” .

Today I learnt to keep my feelings to myself. To never hurt people like how hurtful they are to me. I learnt not to say much and try to be more acceptance of whatever happens. I made prayers that you could see the light and may Allah soften all of our hearts. Amin.

The Holy Messenger (peace be upon him) has said: “Do not get angry and if you do, then sit down and reflect upon the power of your Lord over His creation and His clemency towards them. And if one tells you (condescendingly) to fear Allah, expel your anger and remind yourself of your own clemency.”
